It's official! Here are the first residents of our vegan shelter! 🦃The @doggybagcrew has offered to take our turkeys and geese!🦃They're a new animal rescue that's setting up their site on the Greece mainland. Follow them to check out what they're up to. They're gonna do some great things for Greek animals! 🇬🇷It's super exciting that these birdy boys will get a proper home where they can't be of danger to the other feathered Arc residents. We just need to raise the money required for their new accommodations. 💰The fundraiser link is IN OUR BIO☝️!! Funds will go directly to the DBC so they can get to setting up the boys' new home. 🏡Please donate what you can. Every little bit is appreciated 🙏 Thank you 💙#animalsanctuary #geese #turkeys #vegan #animalsofinstagram #animallove #animalrescue #catsanctuary #greece #greek #greekislands #greece🇬🇷 #greecestagram #travel #vacation #summer #donate #donations #supportanimals #doggybagcrew #vegananimalsanctuary ... Yesterday, we welcomed the first group of volunteers at the shelter, and we couldn’t be more excited about it! Seventeen people arrived at the land and with their precious help we managed to complete some important jobs! First, we placed the water tank on four tires, to be more stable, after we filled them with sand and rocks. We used a 100m cable and a generator to get electricity, and we put a pump inside the well to get the water. We collected 2000 liters!Of course, we left a certain amount of it in the well for the salamanders who live inside, and we are waiting to see if there’s a water table that might bring more water. We cut the burned wood around the well and replaced the old protection. Everyone was very motivated to help and work, so we decided to fence the part around the water tank and the well. The ground was very rough and rocky, so we had to dig to put in the reinforcing bars and the fence. We placed a 20-meter fence and a metal door. 95% of the materials we used were recycled. With more or less construction experience and material knowledge, each one was really useful during this first "workshop" on the shelter. Meeting people who wanted to help and/or learn gave us a big boost, which was what we needed at this moment! The feedback we got from them and the fact that they want to come back soon is also very important to us and for this project.Having fun, learning from each other, and sharing experiences were what we wanted to achieve while working on the land with other people! And this is what happened yesterday.Thank you all for this experience! The next goal is to finish the dry toilets, the shower, and the outdoor kitchen made from recycled wooden pallets to welcome the next group of volunteers in July. ... Yesterday we decided to have a day off and we went to visit some people we had been talking to through Instagram for a while. They have a project very similar to ours at only 2h30 driving. ( it's not that much for Greece)@groveofthevoiceless members are building a sanctuary for all animals in an area that really needs this kind of place. We were welcomed by very kind humans, dogs of all sizes, ages and their rescued stories, and a horse. ( that likes to be taken in pictures apparently)It's the beginning of the project but they have already achieved quite a number of goals. It was interesting to share our different experiences, and to learn about mistakes, tricks, and ideas!next time, we will visit @filia_laundryWe had the chance to meet the person behind this amazing place. We will have so much more to learn about them too! ... See MoreSee Less

Some news from the field. It rained these days making impossible the work on the land. It's not that bad since we have a lot of administrative work to do. It also gave a real boost rain/sun to the nature and we could observe a lot of new flowers. We listed 28 different species which will be useful for the permaculture project. On Saturday, we went with a topographer to make a details plan of the land to start the permaculture design. Today, we went with another contractor regarding the fence to get a second offer. But we are afraid that it will not be that much cheaper.  ( if it is 😬)The land is huge and very difficult to fence. We definitely don't have the 30K to fence the down part of the land, so we are looking to all the possibilities.  Meanwhile,  we continue cleaning the land, the construction of the ecological toilet and shower and of course feeding the homeless dogs and cats. Giving up is not an option. ... A few days ago, we joined the Teaming website, a tool to support charitable causes with microdonations of 1€ a month. It's a small gesture but if many people do it, it can become a serious help for us. We have 14 Teamers so far and we already gotten paid from the website. Teaming is free. No fees are charged, neither to teamers nor to teaming managers. This ensures that 100% of your euro arrives at the animal shelter. It’s simple, fast and easy to join and you can, of course, stop at any time.Starting this project is very difficult financially. We know that we will succeed, but we cannot do it alone. Monthly giving is the most helpful and sustainable donation for the association, and it can help us get organised and be efficient.Find our Teaming link: www.teaming.net/group/list?q=Doggybagcrew%20If you need more info about Teaming, don’t hesitate to ask us!We would like to thank the donors who helped us start:Martine MartineAnna SuboczChristine DespigelaereAlisia KyroudiAgnes Z.Elodie BaudouxPierine Vande ZandeHristos GkikasMichele Middaghdr b bresardKelly thereseVegan4 TheAnimalsSarah Schumiliver ... Work on the land. Update. We went 2 days to the future shelter field to clean the land of the burned dead trees. The land burned 90 percent two years ago in the big wildfires.Nature definitely came back, as always, and we decided to see the little part of the positive that we can find in this tragic event. The wood will be used in winter to heat but a big part of it will be used to prepare the land for the permaculture. We still have a lot of work such as cutting the trees in small pieces but it's already a huge step done. We also succeeded to bring a 2000 liters tank next to the well that is quite far away on the land. Next week, we will pump the water from the well to see how much we can get after winter. We cross our fingers to fill it!*********************************Without you, nothing would be possible! Every euro counts for the future of Doggybagcrew, with 1 euro per month you can help us! www.teaming.net/group/list?q=doggybagcrewNow that we will be most of our time occupied on the land to build the future shelter, and since we left our old life, it will be more and more complicated to get extra income from our jobs. We don't feel comfortable to ask financial help because we know that life is getting more difficult with the price of everything increasing. Then, we will continue to organize solidarity events which is a good compromise. But every association will say it, having a monthly income, even small is a real help and security. So we found this website that offers the possibility to support us with only 1eur/ month. It's a small gesture but if many people do it, it can become a serious help. Thank you to everyone that supports, follows us, and shares our work. ... See MoreSee Less

Το μέρος όπου χάθηκε ή εγκαταλείφθηκε είναι κοντά στην λίμνη Υλική, βόρεια της Θήβας.Αυτό συνέβη πριν από 6 εβδομάδες.Δεν υπάρχουν πολλές ελπίδες αλλά αξίζει να προσπαθήσουμε.Παρακαλούμε κοινοποιήστε όσο περισσότερο μπορείτε, επικοινωνήστε με ανθρώπους της περιοχής αν γνωρίζετε!Ευχαριστούμε πολύ Hello,We make this post because a poor dog is missing and alone in a neighborhood that is quite far away from us. The dog is unfortunately a victim of ungrateful humans and we will not explain the story to just focus on the fact that another association and us really want to find him even if we never had the chance to meet this beauty. The place where he got lost or abandoned is close to the lake yliki in Greece. It was 6 weeks ago. 🥺There is not much hope but let's try anyway. Please share as much you can, contact people in this neighborhood if you know someone. Thank you very much. ... See MoreSee Less

The first work on the field is done! Today we delimitated the land with reinforcing bars and rope which was needed for the contractor who is coming tomorrow. Also,  we realized how much cleaning and cutting works need to be done.Last year we started cutting the burnt trees but there is a lot that has to be cut again since they were never reborn after the fire.Little roads need also to be made inside the field to make our life easier and the main road that leads to the land has to be fixed to avoid getting stuck with the van again! 😅A group of 15 volunteers is coming in the middle of July for a week and we are open to accepting a few more people after their departure till August. If you are interested in helping us, on the land or from your house/ town, you can join the volunteer group on Facebook. Find the link on our linktree in the description. If you don't have Facebook, feel free to send us our mail to be added to the mailing list.  We are very excited after this 1st day and to see the project spring to life is just amazing. It will be a great place for the animals! ... See MoreSee Less
