Η έκθεση “animal liberation" στόχο έχει να αναδείξει την ιδέα ότι η απελευθέρωση των ζώων συνδέεται άρρηκτα με ευρύτερα κινήματα κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης, αμφισβητώντας την κανονικοποιημένη ιεραρχία που τοποθετεί τους ανθρώπους πάνω από όλα τα άλλα έμβια όντα.![]()

Μέσα από μια ποικιλία εικαστικών έργων, η έκθεση εξερευνά και αναδυκνείει θέματα όπως η υπεράσπιση των ζώων, η μάχη ενάντια στον σπισισμό και η αντίσταση των ίδιων των μη ανθρώπινων ζώων. Κάθε έργο αποτελεί μια κριτική ματιά (ή/και οπτική) στην εκμετάλλευση και καταπίεση που υφίστανται τα ζώα σε διάφορους τομείς, από τις βιομηχανικές φάρμες και το κυνήγι, μέχρι τα εργαστήρια πειραμάτων και τη βιομηχανία ψυχαγωγίας.![]()
Η έκθεση δεν αποτελεί μόνο τον οραματισμό ενός μέλλοντος χωρίς εκμετάλλευση και κακοποίηση αλλά μία πρόσκληση για δράση στο εδώ και στο τώρα, μέχρι τα μη ανθρώπινα ζώα να μην θεωρούνται μέσο εκμετάλλευσης της ανθρώπινης κυριαρχίας.![]()

The exhibition "Animal Liberation" aims to highlight the idea that the liberation of animals is inextricably linked to broader social justice movements, challenging the normalized hierarchy that places humans above all other living beings.![]()
Through a variety of visual artworks, the exhibition explores and brings attention to issues such as animal advocacy, the fight against speciesism, and the resistance of non-human animals themselves. Each piece offers a critical perspective (or/and viewpoint) on the exploitation and oppression that animals face in various sectors, from industrial farms and hunting, to experimental labs and the entertainment industry.![]()
The exhibition is not only a vision of a future without exploitation and abuse but also an invitation for action in the present, until non-human animals are no longer viewed as a means for human domination and exploitation.![]()

Niko couldn’t make it this time due to back pain. He stayed at the shelter while workers came to continue work on the solar panel facility. Fortunately, Elisavet received a lot of help from friends and comrades who made this event happen, so it wasn’t canceled as we had expected.![]()

The largest portion of the profit from the bazaar is already gone, as we had to cover extra costs for the metal structure of the shower, fridge, and laundry facility. The remainder will be allocated to continue the construction of the road leading to the shelter. The total cost of the road is 4,100 euros, covering 61 meters of concrete, including the transportation of materials and payment to workers. This is something we cannot avoid if we don’t want to get stuck at the shelter during the winter. Our bank account is completely empty now, and we have already asked our vet to postpone the payment of our bills.![]()

The solidarity events are the main way for the shelter to cover its expenses! The next one is the Animal Liberation Exhibition on November 1, 2, and 3 in Athens at the migrants social center in Exarchia. You can always host a solidarity event in your area (bazaar, screening, food, live concert, etc.), and we can always send our merchandise to support the cause.![]()

In recent days, we have received help from friends coming from Greece and Belgium. When we have visitors, it's a different kind of motivation that drives us. Our routine changes, which isn't always easy, but we take the time to tackle tasks we've been putting off because they're less urgent. However, these tasks stay on the to-do list and in our minds, which can be quite annoying, haha.![]()

We set up a second house for Oscar and Sting because Sting doesn't always want to share his bed. We finally built our compost, protected the metal reinforcements from rust, painted our pallet-style living room, cleared Bruce's area of dead trees, and cut down a good portion of the trees burned in the fire four years ago, which had been depressing to see every day. Lots of small tasks that help and motivate us to keep going, making our daily life more enjoyable.![]()

The DoggyBagCrew animal shelter is organizing a solidarity bazaar to continue the construction of the shelter, cover veterinary expenses, and feed the animals inside and outside the shelter.![]()

Oscar and Sting are the new residents of our shelter! They were found wandering together in the streets, and for a few months now, Oscar and Sting have been inseparable.![]()

This kind of pig is bred for its meat, but we have no clue where he came from or how he ended up on the streets. He was wearing a collar that became tighter as he grew. A few days before he was caught, he could no longer eat. The residents of the area, with the help of a vet, managed to catch him that same night, and the collar was removed immediately. The collar left a big scar on his neck, but he is doing great now.![]()

The piglet (Oscar) is completely attached to the dog (Sting), following him literally everywhere. He wants to eat from the same bowl and sleep right next to him. On the day they were brought to the shelter, we had to take them out of the car they were in. We took the dog out first, and the piglet started hitting himself in the crate and screaming, just from being a few seconds away from the dog.![]()

Sting is not always happy about it, and he is trying to reclaim his personal space. We built a large house for the two of them, but Sting took it over! So, we had to build a second one. For the moment, they are living together until another pig arrives to be Oscar's companion. Pigs are very social animals, and they love companionship.![]()

Since they were both strays, the residents fed them the same food. Oscar was also given dog food or human-cooked food, a habit we are trying to change. We cook for them every day, adding nutritious ingredients, and we are testing which fruits and vegetables he likes the most.![]()

Neither of them was approachable at first, but we are making progress. Sting might be tiny, but he’s a little troublemaker, so we are not surprised that he survived on the streets. Every sign suggests that he will be the most spoiled in the shelter, yet he is undeniably adorable.![]()

The place where they live will not be permanent since Oscar will need a much bigger space as he grows. We want to create a space with stones for the pigs, which is much better than using metal or wood. Before that, we need to cover the road leading to the shelter with around 60 meters of concrete. We are already facing difficulties during rainy days, and we don't want to get stuck in the field. We also want to start planting vegetables and trees to feed ourselves, the animals, and the people coming to help us.![]()

All of this needs work, time, and money. You are welcome to help us in the field, support us with donations, or even organize a solidarity event. ![]()

Except for the third kitten, who, unfortunately, we didn’t succeed in finding in the neighborhood where they used to live, the rest were lucky enough! ![]()

Snow found a family in Patras, and Pika found a family in Athens. The mother will travel soon to Belgium! After we finish all the necessary procedures to allow her to travel, her new family will come to Greece just for her, to ensure a safer journey! ![]()

We are so happy for all of them and the fact that they will be safe and loved from now on!![]()

The mother had a parasite, and now she's under medication for a few days. She is lucky that we took care of it, and she will be well soon. It's important to offer complete care to stray animals, not only feed them. ![]()

We don't think that humans are the saviors of animals, but we believe that it's important to take care of others, no matter the species.

The tattoos will be by free donation for the first few months. Αυτό περιλαμβάνει τρόφιμα, ροφήματα, σαμπουάν, σαπούνια κτλ. Όλο το νερό είτε καταλήγει στη φύση είτε συλλέγεται, επομένως δεν επιτρέπεται η χρήση χημικών προϊόντων. ![]()

🌱 Είμαστε όλα υπεύθυνα για να διατηρούμε τον χώρο καθαρό και ασφαλή! Το 90% της έκτασης κάηκε πριν από τέσσερα χρόνια, επομένως έχουμε μηδενική ανοχή σε συμπεριφορές που θα μπορούσαν να θέσουν σε κίνδυνο το βουνό και τα ζώα.![]()

🌱 Η διαμονή γίνεται σε σκηνές ή σε βαν. Προς το παρόν, έχουμε δύο μεγάλες σκηνές, επομένως συνιστάται να φέρετε τον δικό σας εξοπλισμό κατασκήνωσης ή να μας ρωτήσετε για διαθεσιμοτητα. Στο καταφύγιο υπάρχει υπαίθρια DIY ντουζιέρα , τουαλέτα κομποστοποίησης, εξοπλισμός μαγειρέματος και κουζίνας. Για ενέργεια χρησιμοποιούμε φωτοβολταϊκά πάνελ, γεννήτρια και συσκευές υγραερίου.![]()

Are you planning to visit the shelter and assist us in building it? Now it's the best season for that! Here are a few things you need to know!![]()

🌱 Whether you're vegan or not, all products used inside the shelter must be vegan, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly. This includes food, drinks, shampoos, soaps, etc. All water will either end up in nature or be collected, so no chemical products can be used, except for medical reasons.![]()

🌱 The shelter is an alcohol-free and drug-free place. Smokers can use specific areas, and cigarettes/tobacco must be cruelty-free.![]()
![]()
🌱 We are all responsible for keeping the place clean and safe! 90% of the area was burnt four years ago, so we have zero tolerance for behaviors that could endanger the mountain and the animals.![]()
![]()
🌱 We cover a part of the food, but everyone is responsible for finding ways/solutions for the remainder. ![]()
![]()
🌱 Accommodation will be in tents or in a van. Currently, we only have two large tents, so bringing your own camping equipment is recommended. We provide outdoor DIY showers, compost toilets, cooking and kitchen equipment. For energy, we utilize solar panels, a generator, and gas.![]()

🌱 The shelter is located on a mountain, so having a vehicle for independence is recommended but not obligatory. We can provide transportation when we move.![]()
![]()
🌱 Racist, sexist, transphobic, homofobic, speciesist or any other authoritarian behavior will not be tolerated.![]()

🌱 The maximum stay at the shelter for each individual is two weeks.![]()
![]()
You don't need special skills to offer your help! If you're unfamiliar with a tool, you can learn. We can all learn from each other and contribute our skills and creativity to build the vegan shelter. What matters is being motivated to help. ![]()
