First on our list is Jester’s dental surgery this Monday in Athens. Jester has FIV and stomatitis, and several of his teeth need to be removed to ease his pain and help him eat comfortably again.![]()

This event was especially important for us, as our October bazaar was cancelled at the last minute, leaving us with a few financial gaps to cover from the previous month. Your support helped us recover and continue our work without delays !![]()

We’re also using part of the funds to continue building and improving our shelter. Thanks to your donations through Teaming and Vintage Piece for Peace, we’ve already ordered two new 4 meter metal structures for the rabbits! 🐇![]()

Unfortunately, not all of them get along, and the original 6-meter space—divided into five sections—isn’t enough for seven rabbits.![]()

For their new area, we’ll need to:![]()

🐇Dig and pour a concrete base![]()
![]()
🐇Add extra fencing around and below the structure to protect from predators and prevent escapes![]()

🐇Install a more secure door![]()
![]()
🐇Add waterproofing for the roof![]()
![]()
🐇Plant greenery around the area to provide shade and protection during the summer heatwaves ![]()

And of course, we plan to create fun playground areas with different levels where the rabbits can jump, explore, and enjoy enrichment activities! ![]()

Urgent need for foster care for two female cats with congenital motor instability. ![]()
![]()
Last week, their elderly caretaker, who lived in a rented apartment in Galatsi, passed away suddenly. The owner has already put the apartment up for rent and the cats are at immediate risk of ending up on the street. Despite their instability (which can be seen in the video), they are fully able to take care of themselves and have no other health issues. They are friendly to dogs and other cats. Last Sunday, we held our first bazaar of the season at Navarinou Park and we’re so happy to share that all proceeds will go toward upcoming veterinary expenses for Garry, Johnny andf Mortis. Thank you to everyone who came and supported us!![]()

Back at the shelter, our next big step is finishing the rabbits’ new space. The structure we ordered is already protected with extra rabbit fencing, but we still have some important improvements to make:![]()

installing a better door![]()
adding a rain cover![]()
securing the ground with soil and fencing to prevent escapes![]()
and building a cozy wooden house where the rabbits can sleep safely at night.![]()
![]()
It’s quite a lot of work, but we can’t wait to see the rabbits hopping, running, and playing freely in their new home!![]()

We’re also expecting visitors in early October to help with the project so if you’d like to join us, let us know!![]()
We’re planning our next solidarity event in October or beginning of November, and this time we really need some extra hands!![]()

If you can’t make it to the shelter to help with the rabbits, we’d love to team up with you in Athens! Right now, it’s just the two of us handling everything , running the shelter, travelling back and forth to Athens, putting up posters, loading and unloading, and cooking non-stop for four days. It’s a lot to manage and we know it could be so much better if we shared the work together. Having a steady group of people there to help us once a month would make a huge difference for us. ![]()

A few days ago, we received a call about a dog that had wandered into someone’s property. The person told us the dog could barely walk and was covered in wounds. When we asked why he didn’t take the dog to the vet, he replied that he doesn’t care for strays and would put him back on the street if we didn’t come. What happened afterward, he said, was not his responsibility.![]()

The vet was about to close, so we asked him if he could keep the dog safely in his yard until morning & we would come to pick him up.![]()
![]()
When we arrived, we were shocked to find the dog in much worse condition than we had expected. His legs were full of infected wounds, his ears had been cut & he was underweight. ![]()

The people admitted they had tried to drag him out to the street with a rope around his neck, attempting to make him walk by luring him with food into a pipe. Thankfully, their cruel attempt failed. When we found him, he had hidden himself away, too weak & scared to move and it took us a long time to get him into the van. He was so terrified that he peed on himself as we lifted him![]()

At the vet, we immediately did the rapid test, which confirmed he was positive for leishmaniasis. The vet kept him for 2 days to clean him & his wounds, gave him 2 good baths and ran all the necessary blood tests.![]()

The blood results came back very good! The vet recommended starting a mild therapy for leishmaniasis, so we began treatment with Zylapour, Cilroton & antibiotics for his wounds. In a month, we will probably begin Milteforan![]()

We brought him to the shelter and he is now enjoying a calm and safe space, though he still spends most of his time inside his shelter, recovering![]()
![]()
He has a big appetite, which is a very positive sign. Slowly, he is beginning to trust us, completely normal, given everything he has been through.! ![]()

We hope he will continue to heal, learn to trust people again, and finally understand that there are humans who will love him and never let him suffer. Once he has fully recovered, we will begin the search for the perfect family he deserves!![]()

His current vet expenses and meds ( total 108€) are all covered thanks to your donations💚
At our shelter, we have taken in 7 rabbits and 2 dogs rescued from the recent wildfires in Patras. The rabbits are temporarily housed in crates because we don’t yet have a permanent space for them. They urgently need sterilization to prevent breeding, as well as health check-ups and parasite treatments. ![]()

We have started building a safe space for the rabbits and have ordered a structure for an outdoor playground so they can live, play, and recover in comfort and safety. Our plan is also to transport all the rabbits to a rabbit specialist in Athens for sterilization, medical care, and proper treatment. Each rabbit will cost €100, and we also need to cover tolls and gas for transportation from Nafpaktos to Athens.![]()

This week, we are managing to transfer two females and one male to Athens, but sadly, we can’t yet afford to bring all of them. We’ve even had to postpone other vet visits for shelter animals due to limited funds.![]()

We are organizing a Solidarity Bazaar at the self-managed Navarinou Park in Exarchia, Athens in September and we need your help!![]()

We invite creators of all kinds to contribute their work and stand with the animals in solidarity!![]()
![]()
Proceeds from the bazaar will go towards covering vet expenses, food and meds for the animals, building materials and other essential needs of the shelter. Participating artists and makers are welcome to keep the part of the sales that covers the costs of producing their creations and to enjoy vegan food and drinks! ![]()

We will also need help with vegan food contributions for the kitchen, as well as support on the day of the bazaar, from setup, to running stalls, to packing down afterwards! ![]()
