The association

The DoggyBagCrew was created in 2016 as a result of a journey to Greece that lasted for several months. The large number of abandoned, injured, and dead animals in the streets is what motivated us the most. DoggyBagCrew was born with the main goal of helping as many animals as possible.

Twice a year, the DoggyBagCrew traveled from Belgium to Greece in a van, delivering a ton of food, medications, and supplies to local groups and shelters. Simultaneously, they covered veterinary expenses and undertook the task of finding shelter for animals.

The organization receives no funding from the state. Our work survives solely on our personal expenses, occasional donations from volunteers, and events/bazaars that we organize/participate in.

Animal shelters in Greece are usually overcrowded, and unfortunately, most of the time, we couldn’t offer more than basic necessities such as food and veterinary care to the animals we encountered.

To address this significant issue, we began the construction of our own animal shelter in Greece in 2023, which will be open to accommodate animals of all kinds.

Our shelter is located a few kilometers past Nafpaktos city and covers an area of 20 acres.

The actions of DoggyBagCrew include:

• Providing assistance to injured, abused, or abandoned animals.

• Offering help to animals suffering from physical, emotional, or psychological abuse.
• Finding a permanent family for rescued animals and monitoring their progress.
• Organising events in Greece and Belgium to promote veganism and anti-speciesism, as well as providing information and raising awareness about animal rights defense.
