🐱 Ο Ρουκι ψάχνει για την παντοτινή του οικογένεια! 🐱Ο Ρουκι μας βρήκε πριν από δυο χρόνια και από τότε έχουμε αναλάβει τη φροντίδα του. Δυστυχώς είναι θετικός σε FIV και έπρεπε να τον απομακρύνουμε από την αυλή που ζούσε ώστε να μη μεταδοθεί και στα υπόλοιπα γατιά. Ο Ρουκι δεχόταν επιθέσεις από τα υπόλοιπα αρσενικά γατιά της γειτονιάς και δεν του αρέσει πλέον να ζει έξω. Εδώ και ενάμιση χρόνο είναι σε φιλοξενία στην Αθήνα η οποία τελειώνει τέλος του μήνα!Λόγω του FIV το ανοσοποιητικό σύστημα του Ρουκι είναι αδύναμο. Ο Ρουκι έχει επίσης στοματιτιδα και κάθε 2-3 μήνες απαιτείται ενέσιμη θεραπεία από τον κτηνίατρο αναλόγως τα συμπτώματα. Έχουμε κάνει εξαγωγή σε δύο δόντια και πρέπει να κάνουμε σε άλλα δύο.Αν δεν βρεθεί υιοθεσία σκοπευουμε να τον φέρουμε στο καταφύγιο,σε ένα FIV friendly χώρο αλλά απομονωμένο από τις υπόλοιπες γάτες και χώρις συνεχή παρουσία ανθρωπων. Αγαπάει πολύ τη νεα του ζωη μέσα σε σπιτι και ιδανικά θα θέλαμε να βρεθεί ένα μόνιμο σπίτι γι αυτόν.Ο Ρουκι τα πηγαίνει τέλεια με σκυλιά, παιδάκια και άλλες γάτες. Λατρεύει τα χάδια, τα μαλακά κρεβάτια, τους ανθρώπους και το φαγητό! Δεν έχει να ζηλέψει τίποτα από τα υπόλοιπα γατια, θα κάνει τα πάντα για να σου κλέψει το φαι, θα σκαρφαλώσει εκεί που δεν θες, θα πάρει όλο το χώρο στο κρεβάτι σου κτλ κτλ!Το Doggybagcrew θα καλύψει τις επόμενες εξαγωγές δοντιών, τον καθαρισμό τους και τον εμβολιασμό του. Είναι στειρωμενος και θα δοθεί με όλα τα νόμιμα. Επίσης έχει χάσει το shape πατάτας, και από 7 κιλά που ήταν, ύστερα από διαιτα είμαστε στα 5.4 🤟Αντιλαμβανόμαστε ότι η υιοθεσία ενός γάτου όπως ο Ρούκι, που χρειάζεται συχνές επισκέψεις στον κτηνίατρο, μπορεί να φανεί αποθαρρυντική λόγω των εξόδων. Για τον λόγο αυτό, δεσμευόμαστε να συνεισφέρουμε στα κτηνιατρικά του έξοδα, εφόσον η νέα του οικογένεια χρειάζεται βοήθεια. Θέλουμε να διασφαλίσουμε ότι θα λαμβάνει τη σωστή φροντίδα για την υγεία του και ότι ο οικονομικός παράγοντας δεν θα αποτελέσει εμπόδιο για την υιοθεσία του.Οι γάτες θετικές σε FIV είναι πιο δύσκολο να βρουν ζωοθεσια, γι'αυτο κάθε κοινοποίηση είναι πολύ πολύ σημαντική για να βοηθήσουμε τον Ρουκι να βρει το νέο του σπίτι! ... GR/ENGΈνας χρόνος καταφύγιο! 🎉Τον Ιούνιο συμπληρώνουμε έναν χρόνο από τη δημιουργία του καταφυγίου και το γιορτάζουμε στις 8 Ιουνίου, στο τελευταίο μας μπαζάρ για το καλοκαίρι!Στις 15 Ιουνίου του περασμένου έτους, μετακομίσαμε σε μια ξερή, καμένη γη σε ένα ορεινό χωριο της Φωκίδας και ξεκινήσαμε κυριολεκτικά από το μηδέν. Μείναμε (και συνεχίζουμε να μένουμε) σε ένα τροχόσπιτο, που το καλοκαίρι έβραζε λόγω του καύσωνα, χωρίς ρεύμα, χωρίς νερό, χωρίς ίχνος πρασίνου ή σκιάς, σε μια έκταση 20 στρεμμάτων. Πριν εγκατασταθούμε, είχαμε περιφράξει τη μισή έκταση και είχαμε κατασκευάσει τουαλέτα και ντουζιέρα από παλέτες.Ένα χρόνο μετά, έχοντας περάσει έναν δύσκολο χειμώνα και ένα ακόμη πιο δύσκολο καλοκαίρι, είμαστε πολύ χαρούμενα για όσα έχουμε καταφέρει! Έχουν φυτευτεί πολλά νέα φυτά και δέντρα, και παρότι ακόμα δεν έχουμε πρόσβαση σε νερό, συνεχίζουμε να το μεταφέρουμε με το βανάκι μας σε δεξαμενές και μπιτόνια. Έχουμε τοποθετήσει πολλές δεξαμενές για συλλογή βρόχινου νερού, για ποτίσματα και εργασίες και το project εξελίσσεται μέρα με τη μέρα! Στο καταφύγιό μας ζουν η Χάιδω, ο Παρασκευάς, ο Γκάρι, η Κιάρα, ο Αλφί, η Ζίλια, ο Ντίρο, ο Τίτος, η Πουγιούτ και ο Τζέστερ! Σίγουρα χρειαζόμαστε περισσότερα άτομα να μείνουν εδώ – είτε μόνιμα είτε για μεγάλο διάστημα – ώστε να μπορούμε να φιλοξενήσουμε περισσότερα ζώα. We stayed (and still stay) in a caravan, which boiled in the summer heat, with no electricity, no water, and no trace of greenery or shade, on a 20-acre piece of land. Before we settled in, half of the land had been fenced, and we had built a toilet and a shower using pallets.One year later, after enduring a tough winter and an even tougher summer, we’re very happy with what we’ve accomplished! We’ve planted many new plants and trees, and although we still don’t have access to water, we continue to transport it with our van in tanks and canisters. We’ve installed many tanks for collecting rainwater, for irrigation and general use, and the project is evolving day by day!We definitely need more people to stay here – either permanently or for a longer period – so that we can host more animals, especially those with greater needs. A short update from the shelter! Recently, we welcomed some new people and completed a few tasks. We cut grass and removed dangerous plants for the dogs—though the land is mountainous and large, so not easy to manage. We also created our first experimental veggie garden, but progress is slow, as we still don’t have access to water. Even watering the trees we planted (so important for this burnt land) is a challenge. We’ve started work on the new caravan,added soil to improve the yard and created a water system for the trees.We had to cancel our trip to the Balkan Anarchist Bookfair in Thessaloniki. The day before, we took Garry to the vet. He has leishmaniasis and kidney issues, and while he seems well overall, his testicles are swollen and his blood results were bad. Surgery isn’t safe for now, and he’ll need a 10-day serum therapy and special care.  While in Thessaloniki, we also planned to do dental cleanings for 15-year-olds Alfi and Zilia with our trusted vet, but we’ll reschedule soon hopefully.Paraskevas is going to Patras for surgery next week to remove what is likely a grass awn. His wound kept reopening, and after two misdiagnoses, we’re finally getting answers. Jester’s blood work looks better, but due to pancreas issues, he needs low-fat food. He also has a skin fungus we are treating. We’ll check on him again when we take Paraskevas to Patras for his surgery.We’re also preparing a cozy indoor/outdoor space for Rouki at the other caravan. 🦋Open Call for Help at the Shelter!🦋🗓️Dates: April 29 – May 12📍Location: Fokida Prefecture (we can pick you up from Nafpaktos if you don’t have a car)🏕️ Accommodation: Caravan, tents, or vanThe first volunteers of the season have already arrived—from Canada, Thessaloniki, and Athens! We’ve kicked off multiple projects: insulating the container to safely store supplies, food, and medication for the animals during the intense summer heat; clearing out plants around our newly planted trees; starting construction on a wood storage area; and prepping the soil for our veggie garden. And of course, we couldn’t go without a vegan BBQ!We also shared some creative moments—giving stick and poke tattoos to our friends, in solidarity with the shelter!There’s still so much to do, and our task list never seems to end! Whether you have experience in building or gardening—or none at all—there’s something for everyone.About the pig area:Unfortunately, the workers we hired haven’t been available to start when we hoped, so we’ve contacted a new team.
